Partial Orders

Everything you need to get up and running with our Partial Orders plugin!

The new Order Items Shipped email

The plugin adds a new email to Woocommerce's emails called Order Items Shipped. This email is designed to be used to notify the customer when you have shipped part of their order.

Email settings

Just like the default Woocommerce emails, the Order Items Shipped email has a few settings that you can use to customise the email.

  1. Navigate to Woocommerce > Settings > Email Tab.
  2. Click on the Order Items Shipped email in the list.

The emails settings are explained below.

Subject - The subject of the email. The subject has the following placeholder available that will be substituted for each email sent: {site_title} - Your site title as set in the Wordpress settings. {order_date} - The date of the order. {order_number} - The order number.

Email Heading - The heading that will be used in the email template. The heading has the same placeholders available as the subject.

Tracking Number Note - The tracking note that will be shown after the order items in the email template. The tracking note will only show if a tracking number has been entered when sending the email. Use the {tracking_number} placeholder to output the tracking number. See the Add a Tracking Number below for more information.

Email Type - Whether to send the email as HTML or plain text.

HTML Template - The email template to use. The plugin has a built in template that follows the same structure and design as the default Woocommerce emails however this can be overridden with you own template in the same way as the other Woocommerce email templates.

Sending the email

Sending the Order Items Shipped email is done directly from the order page.

  1. Navigate to Woocommerce > Orders and select an order from the list.
  2. If there are order items in the email queue (See Email Queue below), you will see the Partial Orders meta box underneath Wordpress' publish meta box.
  3. If you have a tracking number to add to the email, enter it in the Tracking number field.
  4. Click the Send Email button to send the email immediately.

The email queue

Whenever you add a shipment for an order item, the plugin will add that shipment (the item, the quantity shipped and the date shipped) to the email queue.

When you send the email to the customer, the queue is cleared ready for the next set of shipments.

The queue will not be cleared until the email has been sent so you have the option of either sending the email after a small batch of shipments for that day or after a larger batch of shipments over multiple days.

The items currently in the queue can be seen in the Partial Orders meta box where they will be listed by order item. Each item will then list the quantity shipped and the date shipped.

Adding a tracking number

You can add a tracking number to each email by simply entering the tracking number into the Tracking Number field and the plugin will include the tracking number in the email when outputting the Tracking Number Note (See the Email Settings above).

The tracking number is not saved since each shipment you make will have a different tracking number so this will need to be entered each time you send the email.

Remember...The tracking number will only be output if you are using the {tracking_number} placeholder in the tracking note settings. If this is note included, the tracking number will note be output.
